| PURPOSE STATEMENT:
To exhibit Christ like behavior before a lost world, and
minister the gospel of salvation and the Word of edification,
for the church’s gain and God’s glory.
HISTORY:
The field of Arequipa was opened in 1982 by Don & Viv
Bond, veteran missionaries with A.B.W.E. New church planting
endeavors were begun among the common populace. Little by
little national and A.B.W.E. missionaries joined the team.
Arequipa, known as the “little Rome” of Peru,
is a very traditional city and is not very open to change.
The early years consisted of sowing the seed without seeing
much fruit. We thank God that over the years many works have
been started and numerous churches are beginning to grow.
In 1994 Steve & Debi Douglas and John & Aimee Stiles
began preliminary work for a new and first time church plant
among the professional class people. In the history of Arequipa,
founded in 1540, this was the first true professional class
work. A building was purchased in 1999 and more personnel
began to arrive in 2001 to help with this work and others.
Leadership training and daughter works are prime focuses
of this ministry.
