Douglas Home

Steve & Debi Douglas have been serving in Arequipa, Peru since 1985.
Arequipa is located in southern Peru and is the second largest city in the
country, with a population of 1 million. Their main ministry is that of
church planting and development which includes the normal elements of
evangelism, discipleship, children, youth, women and men's ministries,
outreaches, leadership training, music and worship preparation, home Bible
studies, visitation, etc.

The Douglases previously worked with the common class of Peru, and are
currently working with the middle (or professional) class people of
Arequipa. This work was the first of its kind in the history of the city,
which was founded in 1540. The work is growing and developing. It is a
slow process and many prayers are offered for the church's growth and for
future national pastors. The Douglases will return to this work after
furlough and continue pushing forward, striving for self supporting and
indigenous status.

The Douglases are also involved in other ministries such as: camp, Bible
Institute, pastor and pastors' wives fellowships, helping other national
churches already established, regional missionary team, MAP teams, and
other ministries.

Steve was born and raised in N.E. Pennsylvania. He was saved at the age of
nine. He received a B.R.E. degree at Baptist Bible College in Clarks
Summit, Pa., and later an M.R.E. from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary. Debi
is an MK from Peru. She was born in Iquitos and was raised in the Amazon
jungle as her parents (Don & Viv Bond) served the Lord there many years in
a river ministry. Debi also attended BBC, which is where Steve & Debi met.
She graduated with a B.S. degree.

The Douglases have 2 children, Nicol and Stephanie. Both girls are home
schooled. Nicol is attending Word of Life and will continue her studies at
Baptist Bible College. Both girls have had active ministries in the New Life
Baptist Church in Arequipa, including:
music, worship, puppets, drama, discipleship, visitation, children's and
youth ministries and general service.

"We praise God for enabling us to do the work he has called us to. We can
do nothing if we do not abide in Him, and we deserve nothing from his hand.
Life and ministry are not about us, but rather about God and how we can
serve and glorify Him. We thank God for his work in our lives and the
ministry there. We also thank Him for people and churches such as
Clearfield Bible, who not only make it possible for us to minister in Peru,
but through their prayers, help make our ministry effective. Thank you for
your continued support. May God bless you for your investment in our lives
and the ministry in Arequipa."
