Ministry Annual Report -- 2003
ABWE
Name: Evelyn Stone
Field: Coastal Peru
A. Give a one or two sentence summary of your ministry assignment.
Church planting missionary/pastor’s wife at “The
Chapel on the Rock”: New Life Baptist Church in La
Capilla; Professor at the Theological Baptist Seminary
in Lima; President, counselor and conference speaker at
the New Life Prenatal Center; International Training Consultant
for Baptists For Life.
B. What special blessings/highlights did you experience
in ministry during the past year?
God has allowed me to have a part in so many exciting
ministries this year that I don’t have room to describe
them all! Briefly:
1. I had the marvelous
privilege of traveling to India in January and seeing first
hand the results of missionary efforts in Manipur that I
had prayed for since a child. 90% of a previously pagan
warring tribe is now Christian (as compared to less than
1% Christian in Delhi.) The "Pregnancy Care and Counseling
Center" of Manipur, that I did training for in April
is now functioning. That is exciting! C___, our Peruvian
missionary, will soon be returning to begin a women’s
ministry in I___.
2. The “Life in Me” Prenatal Center opened
in Cuenca, Ecuador after I traveled there in July to train
a group of volunteers.
3. The New Life Pre-Natal Center in Lima is growing and
developing rapidly this year. Since we have been on TV,
radio and in the newspaper, there has been a substantial
increase in new women coming in. We now serve 10-20 women
each day! It is such an encouraging ministry because people
get saved each week. We rented two more rooms at the main
office to expand the ministry, adding a medical office
to house the new sonogram machine donated by Baptists For
Life.
4. I taught Self-confrontation, an in-depth discipleship
intensive Bible study class, two days a week at the Prenatal
Center to 55 women and twice a week at Seminary. It has
been a blessing to witness many lives changed by the powerful
Word of God in this course.
C. What difficulties did you encounter in ministry during
the past year?
1. The experience of standing in front of the Kali Temple
in Calcutta, India, feeling the Satanic oppression of the
Goddess of Death and Destruction, and not finding the words
or courage to witness to the Hindus around me was the most
difficult moment in my life.
2. The lack of total consecration of some church members
who resist living a life of integrity and godliness and
therefore are a poor testimony and a source of gossip and
conflict.
3. The lack of total consecration of some church members
who resist tithing and therefore the church cannot yet
support it’s own pastor.
| D. List up to 5 of your major ministry
goals for the past year and rate your progress for each:
(A = accomplished, S = some progress, N = no progress,
D = dropped) |
E. Describe activities that contributed
to your progress for each item listed in D. If there
was no progress or you dropped the goal, list the reasons
for that. |
| 1. To travel to India in January 2003 with Peruvian,
C ____, and ABWE appointee, H____ to survey the field
to determine the feasibility of beginning a Crisis Pregnancy
Center ministry there as well as to help them to determine
God’s will concerning who, what, when, where and
how… |

to return in May of 2004 to begin their ministry in India.

| 2. To continue writing and teaching new courses in
Spanish (this year: Psychology and Abnormal Psychology)
and developing the Biblical Counseling program at Baptist

insufficient enrollment. |

School, and am waiting for the shipment of materials
for the first course. |

office, being available for counseling and other needs
of the church family. |
A – Opening the counseling office at church has
been very effective and the church people are responding
well. |
| 5. Organize and direct a team of American doctors and
medical students working with Peruvian medical personnel
and counselors to hold 10 days of mobile clinic ministries
in August 2003. |
