Please pray for David Stone

Dear Praying Family,

My parents, David and Evelyn, were traveling back from a trip south to supervise the earthquake rebuilding projects when they had an accident. At about 11:30 at night two men stepped in front of their car on a very dark stretch of the Pan-American Highway. The men had apparently been drinking. Both pedestrians were killed instantly. The car was heavily damaged, but none of the passengers were injured.

Please pray for the families of these men. Please also pray for my dad as he faces a long legal process which could become quite complicated. We know all things are in God’s hands and are confident that He will work this out. I’ll paste a paragraph from their prayer letter below.

Trusting Him,

Jonathan, Angela, Alison, & Benjamin Stone

From Evelyn Stone:

By the time we reached Lurin, about 45 minutes from home, Eduardo and I were sound asleep.

It was on a very dark stretch of road that suddenly both Dave and Sandy saw the dark outlines of two men appear in front of the car just moments before impact. The two men who had evidently been drinking after work at the refinery did not use the pedestrian overpass, but tried to cross the busy Pan-American Highway to return to their homes. The collision severely damaged the car, but Dave pulled off the road without encountering another vehicle. We found that both men were already dead. None of us in the car were injured more than scratches, bruises and soreness, probably from the airbags. Please pray for the families of the men.

Sandy is an able assistant in directing us through the legal processes. Her father, a retired policeman, arrived to help immediately. He accompanied Dave to the police station and directed him through all of the procedures, analyses and declarations. Instead of being held in a cell, he was taken to a room with beds and allowed to rest for 2 hours in the early morning. Mr. Llaja was also able to obtain Dave's release in 12 hours instead of the typical 24 hours in case of death.

Please pray that the families involved do not press charges or this may become more complicated. The police, lawyers and prosecutor who took Dave's deposition this morning found all paperwork in order, and no evidence of any wrong or negligence on his part. This case may go on for quite some time (perhaps years) so we appreciate your continued prayers. To us this is important because we don't want to divert any time or resources from God's work. We are here to serve Him. But if He requires us to serve in the police stations and courts, we will. Please pray especially for the salvation of one lawyer who will be helping us through the process. We believe unquestionably in the sovereignty of God.
