Coming home on furlough.

Dear Praying Family,

It has been almost 4 years since we left for the mission field. Hard to believe! Time does fly, especially when you’re watching your children grow.
Benjamin loves holding his head up and looking around (he’s rather wobbly of course). He also slept for 6 hours straight one night. We’re hoping he’ll do that again sometime soon.
Alison prayed all by herself the other day! She decided she wanted to thank God for her food so she folded her hands, bowed her head, and said, “Jesus… thank you… cracker… amen!”

We originally planned to return to the States for our first furlough in December. However, we will be coming back on November 4th for Angela’s brother’s wedding ceremony! We will be in the States until October of 2009. Please contact us if you would like to schedule meetings for specific dates. Our priority is to visit all our supporting churches, but please pray that we will also be able to share the ministry in Peru with new churches as we need to raise a significant amount of additional support. We are very grateful for the wonderful way God has provided for us and the ministry here in Peru through the sacrificial generosity of many of you.

Thank you for praying for my dad after his accident last month. We’ve felt God’s peace and help throughout this difficult experience and have seen God’s hand in the details. We’re waiting for the judge to decide whether the case will go to court, but all indications are that things will be resolved without further complications.

The earthquake recovery project continues. We expected to be a lot further along by now, but bureaucracy, paperwork, and construction delays continue to drag things out. Yet God has provided and we expect to celebrate the inauguration of the new church building for the Living Hope Baptist Church in Subtanjalla, Ica on October 11!

Please pray for a smooth transition as we wrap up responsibilities at our church and seminary, try to find a place to store everything, and travel back to the States. We need to find a house to rent in the Tunkhannock, PA area and buy a reliable car for furlough travel. If anyone has any leads, please let us know!

In Him,
Jonathan, Angela, Alison, & Benjamin Stone
