Who We Are

God has a place prepared for each of His children in the body of His Son. In the body of Christ God brings together people from every nation. We believe that God has prepared us for a life of service in His Peruvian family.

Jonathan – My parents have been missionaries

with ABWE in Peru since 1980. God has given me two decades of training in the culture and language of my childhood home. God’s faithfulness and my parent’s example convinced me that the best investment of my life was missionary service.

Angela – God gave me a strong Christian home and a church with a vision for missions. My church supported Jon’s family and I heard a lot about Peru growing up. I wanted to be involved in missions somewhere, but did not know where God would choose to use me.

I traveled to Peru several times with Jon on short term missions trips. God developed a burden in my heart for the people of Peru. Together we looked for a place where God could use us in the Peruvian church.

J – God has blessed the country of Peru with a century of evangelical missions. Though the country is still 93% Catholic, there are many well-established, independent Baptist churches in Peru. Some of these churches are poised to reproduce themselves throughout the country and beyond. This is the time for Peruvians to step to the front of their own church planting movement. We believe God has prepared us to serve our Peruvian brothers and learn from them as we join them in ministry.

J – God has blessed us as Americans with the ability to enter nearly every level of Peruvian society. Historically, the professional class has not been reached with the gospel. In the last 15 years God has brought several Baptist churches into existence among these people. God is vitally interested in creating a church that demonstrates His love by crossing the lines of

division in any society. We plan to join an American/Peruvian church planting team to help churches reach people of every social level.

J – The Peruvian church needs leaders who will spearhead a church planting movement, train others for ministry, and develop resources for the church. If leaders will be equipped for this task, they must have the highest level of training. I am preparing myself to contribute to theological education in Peru by teaching biblical languages at the Baptist Theological Seminary of Lima.

A – One of the most exciting opportunities for evangelism and discipleship is the New Life Prenatal Center ministry. Volunteers from several churches now staff two prenatal centers. While several doctors volunteer at the center, there are no nurses presently involved in the ministry. I plan to use my nursing training to complement this ministry and develop new opportunities for outreach.

As God’s children we are all part of His household. God has gifted every child for the purpose of building up the body as each does his part. The church brings glory to God as it becomes all that He intends it to be (Ephesians 4).

We are dedicated to fulfilling our purpose in the body of Christ. We cannot do this alone. We need you! We need your church to stand behind us and pray for us as we partner for you with your Peruvian family.
